A Stolen Heart

 

First a works Lancia then a works Ferrari driver, Eugenio Castelloti was one of the best loved and most popular Italian racers of the Fifties. When he lost his life in an accident at the Modena Autodrome on 14 March 1957 driving a Formula One car of the Prancing Horse stable, sport fans cried not only for their late champion but also - and above all - for the man hinself. Castellotti was only 26 years and five months old, yet he had enjoyed massive populariry, as much for his smiling affabiliry as for the spirit with which he undertook his difficult and dangerous profession.
